Famous People

Chris Jericho

Chris is an Canadian-American inactive professional wrestler, musician, singer, radio, TV hosts, actor, author, and a dancer. Pretty impressive eh? But he's best known for World of Wrestling Federation/Entertainment.

Louis Riel!!

Of course it would be Louis Riel, the founder of the Manitoba Province. Louis Riel, a leader of his people in their resistance against the Canadian government in the Canadian Northwest, is perhaps the most controversial figure in Canadian historiography.

Tommy Douglas

Tommy Douglas was a remarkable Canadian whose contributions have helped to shape our great nation. Although he is most famous as the founding father of Medicare, the most advanced health-care system in the world, Douglas’ contributions to Manitoba and Canada were tremendous. Douglas established democratic socialism as a mainstream in Canadian politics and his CCF government became the first socialist government in North America. A visionary who achieved his dreams, Douglas changed the face of Canadian politics. More importantly, Tommy Douglas was a politician who put the good of the people he represented first and foremost. He lived and grew up in Manitoba but he came the Premier of Saskatchewan later on his life. He was probably the most influencing politician that didn't get elected as Prime Minister

And......

Jordan Warner !!!!

Growing up in Roblin, Manitoba, Jordan Warner lived the storybook life of a prairie child, playing hockey, baseball, and every sport that his small town could offer. After graduating from high school as one of the top scholar/athletes in Manitoba, he followed in the footsteps of his parents by obtaining both his Bachelor of Science (Math and Physics) and Bachelor of Education with distinction from the University of Manitoba. Mr. Warner has continued his involvement with sport by officiating and coaching baseball, softball, volleyball, hockey and

basketball at the high school level. Mr. Warner's love of travelling took him to Thailand where he taught Kindergarten for a summer before leading him to British Columbia. Mr. Warner teaches mathematics, coaches volleyball and basketball and is a Resident Assistant in Rogers House.

5th Day -

Waking up at 7am, we got on the car and drove back to Winnipeg; we got there at 8.30 and had breakfast. We chilled around the town; we went to China Town and had some snacks. At 2.50, we headed out the airport and got back to Vancouver after an hour and a half flight.

So what I learnt through out this trip is priceless. I love Manitoba, it's such a peaceful province; I love the flat land, the prairies.

Manitoba also plays an important role in Canadian Development; throughout history, there has been a lot of events that happened. The Red River Rebellion, Settlement and many more things. On July 15th, 1870, marked a historical time for the province. During times, Manitoba has produced a lot of famous, talent, people as well as scholars. So by research, I've found out a few famous people from Manitoba.

4th Day

Next morning, we woke up and packed our stuff, and we went back to Mr. Warner’s house, getting prepared for the next destination, Swan River. It took us around 2 hours to get there. We got there at about 12 o clock, and we had lunch and finished at around, we spent another hour on car to drive to Riding Mountain National Park.

We decided to spend a day on hiking, biking around. We also went fishing and got some fish. We stayed overnight and next day morning, we drove back to Mr. Warner’s house in Roblin to get our stuff to go back to BC. On the way back to Winnipeg, we also visited Portage La Prairie, it took us 4 hours to get there, we still had about 2 more hours to Winnipeg, so since we were really tired we decided to stay there over night and go to Winnipeg on the next day. We arrived in Portage la Prairie at around 5; we then went around the city gallery and went to some gift shops. We bought a few of interesting lil stuff. Then we went dining Boston Pizza, since we haven’t had anything since lunch and we were so hungry, we finished 4 large pizzas.

He's too full that he can't even open his eyes

3rd Day

29th of June, just like usual, we finished eating breakfast in the hotel at 9am, then moved all of our luggage to Mr. Warner’s hired car. He drove me down through the cities, countrysides; I got to see a lot of unique things about the Prairie. I thought Manitoba is a great province to live in. Roblin also plays quite an important role in Agriculture and Development. The soil is rich and it gives a lot of support to the farming, cropping as well as animal breeding.

The ride took us approximately 3 hours to get there, I didn't even know 3 hours had passed that fast. I wasn't paying attention to the time; I was concentrating so much on the landscape. It was around 12.30 when we got to Mr. Warner's house, or farm.. It was such a cutie place to live in. While on the way to here, as well as in his Math class, Mr. Warner told me a lot of his childhood stories about Roblin, all of his interesting activities and ridiculous stuff. We had some organic dishes for lunch, then rested till 3pm. After that we headed to the lake to do some fishing. We went to the Blue Lakes, which in the Duck Mountain Provi

ncial Park. We had a great time there, I got a lot of fish, while Mr. Warner didn’t get any, maybe because I’m a skilled fishing guy, or Warner just sucks at it. After that we decided to camp over night in the Provincial Park, we BBQ-ed fish and shrimps for dinner, it was sooo good and fresh. During the night, Mr. Warner told me stories about his childhood time, when Mr. Warner and his dad went ice fishing on Roblin River during winter. We stayed up late and we were singing around and felt asleep at somepoint.

2nd Day

Next day Mr. Warner woke up early in the morning, I could see him running around the park from my room. He looked pump for the day. So our plan was to visit the City Hall, the Legislature

Building and then go to Roblin, hometown of Mr. Warner.

So at 8.40, after having our buffet breakfast at the Fairmont, we walked from Fairmont to the Legislature. We got there, took us around 15 minutes.Legislature Building was built and completed in 1920, and is the official Legislature building of Manitoba. The tour took us around 2 hours, it was such a nice building lol.

And after the tour, we headed to the City Hall, it wasn’t as nice as the Legislature Building, it was just a big building. Soon I found nothing interesting so I asked Mr. Warner if we could go somewhere else instead. So he took me too the Manitoba Museum, there was so much thing to do, all sort of things from Earth and Spaces to Science Gallery. And I found a coincident when I was walking around the museum; I saw a piece of information about Louis Riel, a historical person that had a huge impact of Metis people and Canadian people, will be discussed later in this blog.

After that, we went to China Town to have our dinner. It was 6pm and we were starving. We got so many different types of dumplings and they were soooo good. We got back to the hotel at like 9pm, and just went straight to bed. Before going to bed I also spent 15 minutes to pack up and prepare to go to Roblin tomorrow, Mr. Warner’s home.

First Day

June 26th 2011, I just got back my Math Provincials score, with a result of 100/100.

Mr. Warner, my Math teacher, as he promised to give me a treat, invited me to a Travel Tour in Manitoba.

Early June 27th, we departed to Victoria from Rogers House. We took flight AC8082 to Vancouver, and then AC294 from Vancouver to Winnipeg. It took us 4 hours to get there. The plane ride was pretty fun, there were some turbulence through out the plane, and Mr. Warner got freak out every time lol. At about 2.15 we arrived in Winnipeg Airport.

Hmmm! Winnipeg, capital city of Manitoba, with a population around 650000 people, 8th largest city in Canada, also known as Chicago of the North has a history of over 250 years, first establish in 1738 as Fort Rouge.

We got back to the hotel at 4 pm, and Mr. Warner felt tired so we just stayed in our own room and chilled till the next day. We stayed in Fairmont Winnipeg and we had our dinner there. The steaks were so yummy!
